SOLO EXHIBITION
NOVEMBER 06⏤DECEMBER 06, 2014
PYO GALLERY LA
PYO GALLERY LA, is pleased to announce a retrospective exhibition of Brooklyn based artist Tod Wizon, featuring paintings and drawings from the late 1970’s through 2014. The exhibition dates are November 6 to December 6, 2014. An opening reception will be held on November 6 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
Tod Wizon’s paintings embody both the self-analysis of a modernist with the lyrical bravura of a beat poet. Within the 20 works featured in the exhibition, Wizon explores metaphysical theories using layers of visual language shaped by dreams and emotional states. His compositions depict fictional landscapes assembled through soul-searching introspection rather than direct physical observation. Wizon illustrates an existential riddle as grand and complex as the mysteries of life itself. At first glance his esoteric works appear chaotically arranged and conceal more than they reveal. However, through intimate embrace, the paintings divulge a glimpse of eternity in the twinkling of an eye.
Tod Wizon received his BFA from the School of Visual Art in 1976. His works are included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the Herbert and Dorothy Vogel collection. Wizon’s works have been the subject of solo exhibitions at notable galleries that include PPOW, Phillis Kind, Willard, Annina Nosei, Bruno Bischofberger and Ramis Barquet. PYO Gallery LA is delighted to present this sequential exhibition of Tod Wizon’s work, celebrating his first show outside of Brooklyn in over a decade.
